Standing as a candidate

Nomination papers

Nomination papers can be obtained by emailing elections@stroud.gov.uk, calling 01453 766321 or from reception at Ebley Mill. Please state the area in which you are intending to collect a nomination paper for.

Nominations can only be delivered in person at the Council Offices at Ebley Mill between 10am - 4pm, Wednesday 26 March - Wednesday 2 April. We encourage candidates to book an appointment to ensure Officers are able to undertake an informal check in good time of the deadline.

When completing the nomination paper, the electors who are proposing and seconding the nomination paper must be from the relevant county division in which the candidate is standing from. The polling districts which make up the county divisions can be found here.

Candidates must ensure that they meet the qualifications to stand as a Councillor and do not meet any of the disqualifications. More detail relating to the qualifications and disqualifications can be found here

Political party candidates must ensure the Certificate of Authorisation which permits the candidate from using the political party description and emblem contains a wet signature and is not a photocopy to be valid.

Stroud District Council will provide guidance documents with nomination papers relating to appointment of agents, postal voting, campaigning, imprints and verification and count.
