Our master plan

We don't have all the answers but we are asking the right questions of the right people. Based on those answers, we have set out our first Master Plan.  This will be refined and adapted as situations change and we will keep refreshing it on this page.

Our mission

Our mission is to always act as an example in the community and to help and encourage others to take action.  Through our services, policies and projects, we are doing everything in our power to work together to reach our carbon neutral goal of 2030 and a district which is resilient, inclusive and equality driven.

We are already doing it

We were one of the first councils to declare a climate emergency and since then we've been working hard to make a difference.

Our apprentice Amelia Bolton-Harris has been finding out what is going on across the council and across the district.

Our 2030 Strategy and Master Plan

Our 2030 Strategy and Master Plan is set out to frame a ‘one council’ approach to delivering our part in the climate and ecological emergency response and to leading others to join us.

It sets out a 2030 vision over 7 themes to illustrate the goals for:

  1. Built Environment: the efficient use of water and power
  2. Energy: generation and distribution across the district
  3. Natural Environment: positive outcomes for all species
  4. Mobility: low carbon movement of people and goods
  5. Economy: supporting low carbon living
  6. Waste: minimising waste wherever possible
  7. Community: how we work together

The Master Plan details the areas we are committed to developing under these themes. Over the coming years we will work together on developing projects and services to deliver on the Master Plan.
