Leaseholders and Shared Ownership
If you’ve bought a council flat or maisonette, either directly through the right to buy scheme or from a previous owner, you’re now a council Leaseholder.
More than 160 people have bought their flat under the right to buy scheme across the Stroud district. We want to support and encourage our Leaseholders to play an active part in their communities and provide them with an equal communal repairs and cleaning service to our tenants.
As landlord and leaseholder we both have particular responsibilities so please familiarise yourself with the information in these pages.
If you would like to own your home but can't afford a big payment, please have a look at Shared Ownership. This is a scheme designed to help those who cannot afford to buy a home outright. Instead of buying the whole property, you buy a share and then pay a rent on the remaining amount. our initial share may be as little as 25% or as much as 75%.
