Property inspections and unauthorised occupation
From time to time we will conduct tenancy and property inspections.
We do this to make sure our tenants’ homes are being used by the legal tenant and check that the property is being maintained to a good standard as outlined in the tenancy agreement. See ‘repairs you are responsible for’ for more information about property maintenance.
If we find that you have failed to maintain your property or comply with your tenancy agreement we will write to you to advise you of what work you need to carry out along with timescales for completion. If you fail to take the necessary steps as requested, we will take further action as outlined in the Tenancy & Estate Management policy.
During a property inspection we will also ask you to produce photographic identity such as a driving licence or passport. This is necessary in order to ensure that families on our housing waiting list are not denied because of tenancy fraud.
If we find an individual(s) living in the property without our authority to do so, we will take action to remove them.
