Fire risk assessments

What is a Fire Risk Assessment?

A fire risk assessment is an inspection carried out by a qualified fire engineer that assesses the risk from fire of the block of flats. The assessment is of the communal areas of the block. It does not include access to any flats. The assessment includes recommended actions. Some work is done straight away. Other work may be done as part of a maintenance programme.

The Council's Responsibilities

We carry out fire risk assessments of all our blocks of flats and those with shared internal communal spaces. For most other blocks they are carried out every two years.

Tenant Responsibilities

Please allow access if our surveyors if they need it and ensure that you keep the communal areas free from personal items or rubbish/recycling. If you live in a property which is in a block of flats or has a shared internal communal space and you wish to see a copy of the fire risk assessment, please contact tenant.healthandsafety@stroud.gov.uk
